Cting's passion for creativity began in high school, where she achieved an A in Visual Arts during the HKCEE. She then enrolled at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to study Service and Textile, majoring in Retail and minoring in Design. In 2005, she won the Grand Prize in a citywide poster design competition, laying a strong foundation for her design career. After graduation, she worked as a part-time art teacher, guiding students in expressing their creativity.
To further enhance her professional knowledge, Cting completed a Certificate in Art Therapy at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and pursued a Master’s in Cultural Studies with a focus on Performing Arts at Lingnan University. With over ten years of experience in the media industry, she has worked in television content and film post-production, managing localization projects for major international IPs in Hong Kong, including "Detective Conan" and "Jujutsu Kaisen." She has also participated as a voice director for projects such as "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "Sonic 3," "The Smurfs," and "If."
Currently, Cting is fully engaged in the IP industry, combining her artistic craftsmanship with media creativity to develop IP content. In 2024, she will collaborate with The Conservancy Association to host her first solo IP exhibition, featuring co-branded T-shirts with Mil Mill, six art workshops, two puppet theatre performances, five stop-motion animations, and an original song. This event promises to be a valuable experience in design, production, and application.
Looking ahead, Cting plans to partner with The Conservancy Association to launch an IP picture book in 2025, centered on intangible cultural heritage, with a PhD advisor providing guidance. The project is scheduled for completion in April 2025, with offline events to promote education about non-material culture for the next generation. Additionally, she is in discussions for licensed collaborations to design plush toys, keychains, and blind boxes, eagerly anticipating further expansion of her creative endeavors.
The main character of this IP, “BoBo.D.Planet,” is inspired by Cting's beloved dog, BoBo, who accompanied her for eighteen years. The name signifies "my precious one." During Cting's teenage years, she often stayed up late drawing while BoBo quietly watched over her, which sparked the initial design concepts for the character. After graduating from university, Cting found herself without new creative projects, but BoBo remained a steadfast companion through significant moments in her life. Tragically, the day after celebrating her child's first birthday, BoBo passed away, leaving Cting with a profound sense of loss. In her grief, she transformed her longing for BoBo into creative energy, aiming to resurrect the character and hoping that BoBo could accompany more children on their journeys, healing their hearts along the way.
The name “BoBo" comes from one of BoBo's nicknames, reflecting her beautiful golden fur. BoBo is a mix between a Yorkshire Terrier and a long-haired Chihuahua, and Cting has preserved her golden coat, soft pink ears, and round black eyes in the design. A distinctive heart-shaped patch of cream fur on her nose serves as a symbol of love, allowing Golden Baby to spread warmth and affection through her adorable appearance.
MoMo has a white fluffy companion, inspired by Cting's other dog, Little White. This affectionate, chubby silver fox character retains its round body and large black eyes, blending the designer's two beloved pets into the narrative.
The character designs for the animated series have undergone more than ten iterations and are handcrafted. MoMo’s fur is sourced from Little White, meticulously cleaned and integrated into lightweight clay, with the final colors and proportions refined over six months.
In addition to BoBo and MoMo, the IP features other characters such as Captain Purple Cat MEOW, Civil Engineer WATER, and Guardian POKE, each embodying elements from the five Chinese elements. Together, they showcase vibrant transformations and embody the spirit of "loving oneself, others, nature, the planet, the next generation, and cherished memories."
Our team is committed to creating a versatile and long-lasting IP that appeals to audiences of all ages, hoping to carve a niche in the parent-child market. The story of BoBo is not only a tribute to the past but also a beacon of hope for the future. Through these lovable characters, we aspire to convey messages of love and positivity, fostering social cohesion and well-being.
