Winson embarked on his creative journey by joining the adverting industry upon his graduation in 1985. Started off as a graphic designer to creative Director, he set up an advertising company and also was an illustrator. Combining his hobby and creativity on toy design, Winson decided to become an Art Toy Designer in 2000. Together with his two friends, they co-founded the legendary action figure brand – “Brothersfree”. The first creation was a 1:6 action figure inspired by Hong Kong site worker. The figure was an instant hit drawing worldwide attention. In 2004, the Space Apeman won the Gold Award in Hong Kong Figurine Competition. Brothersfree had numerous collector’s favourite creation during the five years collaboration thus becoming a legend in the Art Toy Industry.
In 2006, Winson established his own Art Toy brand Winson Classic Creation with the concept of an environmental protection figurine Apexplorers. Dr. Rebecca Lee, an explorer, has helped sustaining the adventure of the story by bringing Apexplorer to both North Pole & South Pole multiple times. Apexplorer’s adventure portraits and the figurine itself has been exhibited around the world and collaborate with different brands and charity organizations.
Winson was the Chairman of the Hong Kong Illustrators Association in 2011. During the period, he had shared his creativity path with students in colleges, institutes and universities. Over the years, he has co-held numerous Art Toy Exhibitions all over the world. Winson has organized in Hong Kong Figurine Competition for over 13 years. Over the past 18 years, Winson Classic Creation has created nine toy trademarks each with its own original story.
Winson was on the list of 2021 International Trend Artist Influence Ranking by London Daily Post, London in 2021. Winson loves to share his precious experiences with young designers to inspire their creative journey.
